Spotlight Session description
The automotive industry faces significant challenges in addressing decarbonization through electrification and developing future solutions for inclusive, safe, and affordable mobility. These challenges include integrating complex components, ensuring safety, managing data privacy, optimizing energy efficiency, achieving scalability, and complying with regulations. These hurdles impact the development of advanced electronic systems for future mass-market electric connected autonomous and shared vehicles. Many of these changes necessitate a radical rethinking of existing development processes, with the role of software in modern mobility solutions continually expanding. The increasing significance of the software layer has given rise to software-defined vehicles (SDVs). These vehicles prioritize software as a central component, transforming traditional development processes and enabling more adaptable, intelligent, and connected mobility solutions.
This workshop will reflect on the ongoing activities to tackle these challenges together with experts, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers.
- Key Note (Title) – Speaker: Reiner John (AVL)
- Speaker: Dr. Max Lemke, Head of Unit Internet of Things, DG for Communication Networks, Content and Technology, European Commission
- Hardware Abstraction Layer for Software Defined Vehicles (HAL4SDV): the project aims to advance European solutions in software-defined vehicles and next generation vehicles by harmonizing efforts across Europe, creating a comprehensive SDV ecosystem while leveraging existing national projects and international R&D activities. Speaker: Andreas Eckel (TTTech Computertechnik AG)
- AI-based CCAM: Trustworthy, Explainable, and Accountable (AIthena): the project will contribute to building Explainable AI (XAI) in CCAM development and testing frameworks, researching three main AI pillars, such as data (real/synthetic data management), models (data fusion, hybrid AI approaches), and testing (physical/virtual XiL set-ups with scalable MLOps). Speaker: Georg Stettinger (Infineon Technologies AG) (tbc)
- Speaker: Dr. Stephane Dreher, Senior Manager ERTICO & Leader of Coordination Working Group at CCAM (tbc)
- Open Discussion (moderator: Andreas Eckel – TTTech Computertechnik AG)
