PANEL DISCUSSION TOPICS AT THE AUTONOMOUS MAIN EVENT

The Autonomous Main Event will feature panel discussions centered around the most pressing issues in the autonomous vehicle industry. Key topics include:

Understanding Risks and Rewards in Software-Defined Vehicles

Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are transforming the automotive industry by providing continuous innovation and updates throughout a vehicle’s lifespan. OEMs are pursuing advanced functionalities to keep customers at the cutting edge of technology. However, achieving this vision requires overcoming significant challenges. Developing and implementing cutting-edge architectures and methodologies is essential to enable fast, reliable, and cost-effective software updates while maintaining the highest safety and security standards. Safety and security are foundational elements, demanding meticulous consideration from the early stages of vehicle design.

Navigating the Regulatory Landscape of Autonomous Vehicles

Understanding the regulatory frameworks that shape autonomous mobility is crucial, especially for commercial vehicles. As the industry evolves, balancing innovation with safety regulations requires collaboration among stakeholders. Despite increased scrutiny, the commitment to safety, transparency, and accountability remains strong. This panel will also explore the different regulatory paths for autonomous trucks, commercial vehicles, and passenger vehicles, highlighting the unique challenges and progress in each sector.

Safe Paths: Building Fail-Operational Architectures for Autonomous Vehicles

Creating a safe automated driving system capable of handling complex tasks is a enormous challenge. Even with top-tier hardware and software, faults are inevitable. The system must be designed to manage these faults and continue operating safely, at least for a minimal specified time. Selecting the right architecture is crucial to meet safety, security, and availability goals. Additionally, the architecture must align with a verification and validation strategy that can prove the system’s safety performance exceeds that of human drivers.

Autonomy Beyond Automotive – Exploring Synergies

Gaining insights from other industries can lead to unexpected breakthroughs. This panel will explore the intersection of autonomous technologies in various sectors, including automotive, mobile machinery, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), and delivery applications. By sharing knowledge and safety expertise from industries like aviation, we can better understand the path to autonomy across different fields.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

By attending The Autonomous Main Event on September 24, you’ll also gain insights from the latest findings of The Autonomous Working Group on Safety & Architecture, as well as exclusive takeaways from technical workshops held on Day 1, September 23. Additionally, new members of the Working Group will be announced, contributing to the initiative’s continued growth.
