Artificial Intelligence is playing an increasingly critical role in trajectory planning and control for autonomous systems. But ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency remains a major challenge.

At The Autonomous Main Event 2024, Infineon Technologies, a long-term partner and the Lead of The Autonomous Expert Circle on Safety of Embedded AI, unveiled its latest annual report, highlighting groundbreaking advancements in AI-enhanced trajectory planning and control.

Key Findings from the Report

  • 50% improvement in tracking accuracy with AI-powered trajectory controllers, leading to more precise vehicle movements.
  • 5% increase in energy efficiency through AI-enhanced Model Predictive Control (MPC), optimizing power consumption without sacrificing performance.
  • Comprehensive safety blueprint outlining the framework for ensuring safe AI implementation in trajectory control, including data integrity and verification measures.

Infineon’s work builds on the EEmotion project, co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), demonstrating significant strides in energy-efficient and safe AI integration for automated driving.

In this report you’ll find the demonstration of these development efforts on AI enhancements of trajectory planning and control along with a conceptual safety blueprint, and the data used to train them.
